Secondary Insurance Information

Chestnut Hill College Athletics Secondary Policy
All CHC student-athletes are required to enroll in the secondary insurance policy to be eligible for participation with a team. This policy covers injuries occurring only during an official CHC athletic activity including practices, games, and workouts scheduled and supervised by athletic department personnel. While the policy is secondary to the student-athletes primary insurance, it covers copays, deductibles and coinsurance amounts not paid by the primary provider. It can also provide benefits when primary coverage has been exhausted.

Please note that the secondary policy does not cover:

  • Captain's practices, intramurals, or any other activity occurring outside of supervised and mandatory team training
  • Illness
  • Summer leagues and pickup games
  • Pre-existing conditions
  • Services in Pennsylvania for policy holders whose primary insurance does not cover out of state

International Student-Athlete Insurance Requirements
Primary insurance accepted in the States is also required for all international students. The following websites are from suggested carriers that offer health insurance coverage which will meet the minimal standards in the event of a collegiate athletic injury. Please confirm the policy you chose will cover collegiate sports injuries.
