Daywalt Recognized as League’s Top Second Baseman With All-CACC First Team Selection

New Haven, CT – (5/8/2012) – Announced today, Tuesday, May 8, Chestnut Hill College senior second baseman Jesse Daywalt (Phoenixville, PA) received a First Team selection to the All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Team. As team co-captain Daywalt led Chestnut Hill College to their best season in program history (19-23, .452), while earning himself a third straight year on the All-CACC roster.
 
Daywalt more than filled his captain role in 2012. He led Chestnut Hill College (19-23, 5-15) in batting (.310, 44-for-142), hits (44), walks (30), on-base percentage (.451), and stolen bases (29-for-34, .853) while ranking among the CACC's top five in on-base percentage (5th) and walks (T3rd). He was an honorable mention for the CACC Player of the Week award on March 27 and was recognized during the preseason as a member of the 2012 Preseason National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association (NCBWA) All-East Region Second Team and a player to watch for the Tino Martinez Award.
 
In addition to the All-CACC Team, the league also awarded annual individual honors for the CACC Player of the Year, the CACC Pitcher of the Year, the Rookie of the Year, the CACC Coach of the Year, and the Team Sportsmanship Award. The Player of the Year title was awarded to Wilmington University's senior outfielder Joe Harbach (Abingdon, MD) who led the Wildcats to a second place, regular season finish, with a CACC-leading .404 (67-for-166) batting average. Harbach also led the CACC in triples (6), runs-batted-in (RBI) (40), on-base percentage (.498), and slugging percentage (.633). Pitcher of the Year honors went to the University of the Sciences' (USciences) junior pitcher Dan McMahon (Millville, NJ), who led the league in wins (7), complete games (5), opponents batting average (.212, 65-for-307) and strikeouts (76). He was the first CACC student-athlete to be honored as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Pitcher/Player of the Week, earning the title for the week ending March 11. Nyack College's freshman outfielder John Kennedy (Fort Lauderdale, FL) recorded a historical, league-high 55 stolen bases while also totaling 42 runs scored and a .337 (60-for-178) batting average as the league's Rookie of the Year. His coach, Matt Cornacchione was recognized as the Coach of the Year after directing the Warriors to a 23-22 overall record and an 11-9 CACC standing. The Team Sportsmanship Award was given to Philadelphia University.
