Daywalt Returns to Daktronics Inc. All-East Region Roster

Philadelphia, PA – (5/17/2012) – Chestnut Hill College senior second baseman Jesse Daywalt (Phoenixville, PA) earned his second straight, Second Team selection to the Daktronics Inc. East Region Baseball Team with today's release from the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II. As team co-captain, Daywalt led the Griffins to their best season in program history (19-23, .452) with his third straight All-CACC season.
 
Daywalt more than filled his captain role in 2012. He led Chestnut Hill College (19-23, 5-15) in batting (.310, 44-for-142), hits (44), walks (30), on-base percentage (.451), and stolen bases (29-for-34, .853) while ranking among the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's (CACC) top five in on-base percentage (5th) and walks (T3rd). He was an All-CACC First Team selection for the second straight season and he earned an honorable mention for the CACC Player of the Week award on March 27. During the preseason, Daywalt was listed as a 2012 Preseason National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association (NCBWA) All-East Region Second Teamer and a player to watch for the Tino Martinez Award. He finishes his collegiate career as the Griffins second all-time leading batter with a .314 (171-for-544) batting average and a .403 on-base percentage. He ranks first all-time in at-bats (553), runs (119), hits (172), triples (7), sacrifices (26), and hit batsman (21).
 
The Daktronics Inc. East Region Player of the Year title went to Franklin Pierce University's sophomore first baseman Zach Mathieu (Derry, NH), who led the Northeast-10 in hits (85), doubles (22), runs (59), total bases (156), and slugging percentage (.712). As the league's Player of the Year, Mathieu recorded 12 home runs and 48 runs-batted-in (RBI) on a .388 (85-for-219) batting average. He was also recently recognized as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Player of the Year.
 
Southern New Hampshire University's junior Timothy Flight (Portsmouth, RI) was named the Daktronics Inc. East Region Pitcher of the Year after posting a 7-1 record and a 1.17 earned run average (ERA) as the Northeast-10 Pitcher of the Year. He led the Penmen to a 38-12 overall record while leading his conference in strikeouts (116).
