Philadelphia, PA – (10/8/2011) – The Chestnut Hill College men's cross country team ran at the Jack St. Clair Memorial Meet this afternoon, which was hosted by Philadelphia University at the Belmont Plateau. The Griffins finished with 229 team points to place 9
th in the event. Villanova University placed five runners in the top ten, including the first three across the line, to win the event with 17 team points.
Freshman Chris O'Sullivan (Havertown, PA) was the first qualifying runner across the finish line for Villanova University; he completed the five mile course in just 26:23.34. For the Griffins, freshman
Joseph Trujillo (Derry, NH) was the top runner. He placed 18
th with a time of 29:04.93. Senior
Owen Ward (Croydon, PA) was next, he crossed 51
st at 31:37.68. Fellow seniors,
Julius Twyman (Coatesville, PA) and
Jeremy Goerlich followed in 64
th (32:48.75) and 79
th (41:24.78), respectively. Freshman
Adam Drabinski (Drexel Hill, PA) placed 82
nd with a time of 44:44.05.
The cross country teams will take a week off before competing at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship Meet, which is scheduled for a 10:00 a.m. start on Sunday, October.
